Description
Deja Vu Antiques Mall in Orcutt, California -- the place where you get the feeling that you have seen some of the treasures there somewhere before. Maybe you have! (No charge for all the happy memories!)
This truck is a perfect example of Central Coast style--what I like to call "rustique." Here, rust is a design element and a source of pride, especially if it is on an old tool or farm implement--no Rustoleum allowed!
Dedicated to the owner, Wendy. Thanks, Wendy, for letting me take pictures of all your fascinating displays!
I wouldn't want to forget to mention that this amazing display is one of many in Old Orcutt created by landscape contractor Danny George. He creatively captures the unique character of the town with drought tolerant plants perfect for the Central Coast climate.
If you are ever in California on Hwy 1, 135 or 101, stop off at Old Orcutt--a tiny town filled with great antiques, excellent restaurants, wine tasting, micro-breweries, Craftsman architecture, and friendly people!
(Just for info: Old Orcutt is wedged between Highways 1 and 135. If you exit 101 on Clark Avenue, just head west through the newer areas of Orcutt. You'll know it when you see it!)

This is so cool, Caitlyn. I once had a very good friend since grade school named Jerry Orcutt. This display also reminds me of Mexican Nationals that travel to Tucson and visit yard, carport, and garage sales to take stuff back to Mexico. All & all a very enjoyable and thought provoking image!...................FAV / LIKE
Caitlyn Grasso replied:
Thank you very much, Jerry! Orcutt is named for a well-known petroleum geologist who discovered the La Brea tarpits. Maybe your friend is related! This scene is reflective of what I call Orcutt's unique "RUSTique" style. :))
