Description
If I were a wooden man, I think I would be a bit concerned. There seems to be a touch of flame nearby! For being such a stoic character, I think he is rather charismatic. As you can see his arms move, but his legs are stationary. I wonder if he was intended as a modern interpretation of what are called "wooden dressmaker's dolls." The story goes that the latest European style was transported to the colonies via miniature wooden dolls dressed in the latest fashions. Seamstresses in America and elsewhere would look at these dolls and fashion their own patterns. Dressmakers apparently could devise their own patterns simply by looking at the doll.
