Description
This cozy, rustic scene is from a family friend's cottage-style garden in Santa Maria, California. Mounds of these gorgeous Lady Banks' roses (Rosa banksiae) cover the central coast landscape in late winter and spring!
Originally from China, it is a shrubby vine that can grow to 20 feet. It is one of the earliest roses to bloom. Among its many virtues is a slight violet scent and very few thorns. It is also evergreen which is fortunate because the amazing bloom show ends with the appearance of summer heat.
