Description
These two horses are contentedly keeping each other company in a peaceful California field surrounded by a grove of Eucalyptus trees.
When older, beloved horses are past their working life, owners are faced with a dilemma--what do they do with their faithful companions? The most humane choice is frequently turning them out to pasture with adequate additional food, a shelter, and some companions. There the horses, like these two, can enjoy a well-deserved retirement.
On a somewhat surreal note, if you think that you see something that looks like three pink flamingos in the background--you do. No, flamingos are not indigenous to the Central Coast of California. But plastic ones frequently flock in yards as a prank. Here, they lined the road behind the Eucalyptus grove. Why would someone line a public road with plastic pink flamingos? I have no idea. Things like that just happen around here. I find that it's best not to think about it too much...
