Description
This car gives a whole new meaning to the term hot rod! The 1951 Mercury sporting these flames was a beauty with a red interior. It was taken at the West Coast Kustoms Cruisin Nationals on a hot day in sunny Santa Maria, California. Can you feel the heat?
While there is no real agreement on the origin of the term "hot rod," everyone agrees that a hot rod has been changed to pump up its power and performance far beyond what the original body manufacturer envisioned. Classic custom cars like this one are hot--flaming hot!

I can feel the image through the shapes, curves, colour, and lighting (hope that makes sense - it's the best way to describe why I like it). L/F, and one of my POD's, December 10, Best of Minimalism.
