This hummer looks packed and ready to go!
This is an Anna's hummingbird--either a female or a very immature male. A mature male has a red head. They are very common along the coast of California, yet unique among hummingbird because they frequently do not migrate. So, it is not uncommon to see them year-round in your backyard. They absolutely love drinking the the nectar of bottlebrush trees (Callistemon), but this one is just relaxing on a Camphor tree right outside my window!
