Description
Glistening in the sun this Pontiac Silver Streak ornament is as striking as it was on the showroom floor.
The term "Silver Streak" refers to the bold metal band which runs down the center of the hood. Pontiac used some form of silver streak as their trademark design element from 1935 through 1956. The ornament itself is, of course, an allusion to Pontiac, the Ottawa war chief involved in resistance against the British occupation of the Great Lakes region from 1763 to 1766. The Pontiac motor division of General Motors was manufactured in and named after Pontiac, Michigan which, in turn, was named for the Ottawa chief.
The starbursts were done in camera, but cross processing and vintage film grain were applied digitally.

Fabulous Art Deco hood ornament. It's easy to see the design influence Zephyr trains from the 1930s had on this awesome piece. Well done Caitlyn! L&F
